Newborn Session-Info

CONGRATULATIONS on your new or soon-to-be bundle. It is such a wonderful and amazing time in your and your family's life. I am honored that you are considerng me to document these extremely special days. As you will soon find out babies grow and change very quickly. That is why I ask parents to plan newborn sessions within the first 14 days of baby's life. It is best to schedule your newborn session while you are still pregnant. Feel free to schedule your appointment while you are still in the first trimester. Once that precious bundle has arrived please call or email me, preferably within the first three days to schedule the exact day and time of the session.

On the day of your session:

  • I will have the thermostat up to 75-80 degrees in the studio. Your little one is used to a very warm environment and we want to simulate that environment throughout the session. Please dress accordingly, think tank tops, short sleeves, or dresses.
  • Keep baby awake for as long as possible before the shoot (1 to 2 hours works best). We want the baby nice and sleepy for the session.
  • Don%u2019t feed baby before you arrive at the studio. I will ask you to feed him/her when you arrive.
  • Baby's best outfit is his/her birthday suit. I will ask you to undress them when you arrive.
  • Sessions generally last 2-3 hours. Plan accordingly. Bring snacks for yourself or siblings. Plan on frequent breaks to feed, rock, and sooth baby. I am in no hurry. Don't feel stressed by time.
  • What should you wear? Remember focus is on baby so simple is best. Mom-white or black tank top or solid color dress is nice. Dad-a simple black or white t-shirt works well. Also, for a very sweet and personal touch I may ask for dad to take off his shirt.
  • Don't worry about the baby crying or soiling things. I expect that! I prefer to soothe the baby and hope that you will find the shoot to be relaxing and an enjoyable experience. Also, please offer suggestions. These are your memories and I want you to get exactly what you want.
  • If you are including siblings I ask that they come 1.5 hours after the session as begun as they will likely get bored and restless. This will help with keep the shoot relaxed and quiet for your new baby.
  • What to have available or what to bring:

  • Pacifier
  • Favorite blankets or any items you'd like to include in the session (bows, hats, headbands)
  • Baby wipes, several extra diapers, cloth diapers and/or burp rags.
  • Have an extra grown-up to supervise siblings.
